  Going back to the 2008 Generation

  it looks to me like the society is rapidly moving back to the february 2008 watchtower "new light" on "this generation," which said this:.

  * jesus used "this generation" to mean "anointed ones.".

  * in the first fulfillment, jesus was promising that some anointed ones would still be alive to witness the events of 70 c.e.. * in the secondary fulfillment, jesus was promising that some anointed ones would still be alive when jesus returns to judge the sheep and goats.. the new 2015 jw research guide posted on jw.org lists this 2008 watchtower article as the first article people should read about the "clarified understanding" of the generation.. this 2008 view also matches the statement in the new 2015 jesus--the way, the truth, the life book, which says that "this generation" refers to disciples who see the signs of the last days.. i think they are abandoning the overlapping part..

  They now believe that the overlapping generation IS the one generation that saw the events, through the eyes of the first lap which told the second lap about the events. So its just the same doctrine it just puts them together. They could say that some of the "overlapping generation will not pass away" and it would be the same thing I think.

  i want you to see how fake people are who pretend their open-minded, dr. erhman try's to reason with someone whose mind is totally made up.

  the topic is whether there was a man named jesus and paul, the infidel atheist get's owned because he shows his true colors!.

  so this weekend there was a part about not following jesus at a distance.

  the speaker made a big point of stating that any baptized jw male who was not either appointed ms/elder, or at the very least "reaching out" actively, was in fact following jesus at a distance.

  he said that the only way to live through the big a was to follow jesus closely.

  I'm okay with the "fruitage of the spirit."

  though i now consider myself a secular buddhist, i just realized today that i'm okay with trying to pursue the qualities mentioned by paul as the "fruitage of the spirit.".

  the only one i take issue with is "faith" in the context of religion.

  what are your thoughts on the matter?.

  In the 80's they had articles on each one of the fruits of the spirit. It was something I thought was way overdue. They were very well written and practical. People were paying attention to them and I saw efforts by many in my congregation to apply it. I know that I tried. Then we had an article after that that said that it was our works of faith that save us and not "character building". I knew it was BS after that. Someone at HQ was at odds with someone else I think.

  I think this is the key: "When it comes to health care and other matters, each of us needs to make a personal decision and accept responsibility for it." With all the relaxation of what parts of blood you can take without being DF'd people are taking advantage of it. Some are freaking out because "brother or sister so and so" accepted this part and its wrong! So there must be infighting about what the hell to do with all these people with a permissive conscience and those who are becoming judgmental. They dug this hole and now they have to fill it in.

  over the years, i have seen a change in heart with the country i grew up in and the general view of what they perceive as how everyone should view things in relation to morality.

  a strictly religious country for centuries now forever changed within a short number of years.

  i have also seen the viewpoint on this site gradually change in many ways.

  After 2 years my parents make contact. The end result is that I promise them to cryogenically preserve ONLY their heads

  it has been 2 and a half years since my departure from the religion.

  i was told by my parents from the start that i would never speak to them until i returned to jehovah dog.

  a few months later they told people they hoped i died before the end came, then all of this culminating in them telling my inactive / fading sister that they don't consider me a child anymore and they have given me up to satan.

  Its so strange she would call you out of the blue. Maybe it was the "bring them back to Jehovah fever" from the DC or whatever the crapfest is called these days. Sorry she was so evil to you. Rise above it, just hang up and block her if possible or screen her. Just a suggestion.

  an elderly sister passed away recently.

  family came to her memorial service from all over the country.

  some of them, including grown-up, disfellowshipped children of hers, also came.

  The Kingdom Hall is a public place so its open to the DF'd. That's the official view. The attendance at a gathering is up to the family. When my mom died my family hugged and showed affection to my DF'd brother. He was allowed full access to grieve at the gathering after. We refused to be the same as all the elder asshats in the congregation. We didn't even have an elder give the memorial talk at the Kingdom hall, a friend did it. Best memorial ever. It was a small gathering after.
